Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since spring of that year.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, took control to create a third set.

He saved 4 early break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
