Cars in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were alerted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then discovered many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking representative stated the attack made him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
